Deep lacquer surface inlaid with iridescent mother-of-pearl fragments
Intangible Cultural Heritage

Handcrafted
Chinese Lacquer
& Mother-of-Pearl.

Where ancient Urushi tradition meets the iridescent soul of the sea. Each Molan piece is handmade in exclusive collaboration with the Donghai Shell Carving Art Museum -- certified intangible cultural heritage, made for modern living.

The Craft

Two Thousand Years
in Every Layer.

Molan's work is not manufactured -- it is cultivated. Rooted in Chinese intangible cultural heritage, each piece carries the memory of dynasties, expressed through the hands of living masters.

Nature Raw Lacquer

Harvested from the lacquer tree in small, precious quantities, Urushi is applied in dozens of translucent layers -- each one dried, polished, and perfected before the next. The result is a surface of extraordinary depth: living, breathing, and endlessly luminous.

Mother-of-Pearl Inlay

Raden -- the ancient Japanese and Chinese art of shell inlay -- transforms the iridescent wings of abalone and freshwater pearl into luminous mosaics. Our artisans hand-cut fragments thinner than a fingernail, placing each one with tweezers and patience measured in seasons, not hours.

Living Heritage

China's intangible cultural heritage is not a museum relic -- it is a living practice. Every Molan artisan is trained in an unbroken lineage of technique, their work certified and co-created with the Donghai Shell Carving Art Museum to ensure authenticity for every generation.

"We do not rush beauty. A single Molan piece may take three months to complete -- and a lifetime to fully appreciate."
